For a number of reasons (some good, some bad), many developers have hesitated creating SVG-capable products. While creative powerhouse Adobe Systems has put almost its entire weight behind the format (allowing importing and exporting out of its major products), many other developers have been reluctant.
Some cite limited interest. Some cite high development costs. Some cite nothing at all. Regardless of their reasons for hesitation, these companies should be made aware of our interest in them supporting the technology. Let them understand on a personal level how their customers want to use their products. Remember, developers are providing us a service, not a favor.
Please download the following letters (see right) to send to developers who do not yet support SVG. By printing them out, signing your name, and mailing the letter in, you will ensure the technology's continued rampant growth.
Keep in mind, your letter does make a difference. Think of the impact of just a few votes in Florida in 2000. And lastly, feel free to modify these letters to your liking. You can also send them to your favorite developer to encourage SVG support for a product not mentioned here.
